About
Welcome to your creative sanctuary.
Located in the heart of Newcastle, The Art Department is more than just a pottery studio—it’s a space designed for mindfulness, self-expression, and the pure joy of discovery. We believe that pottery is a therapeutic journey, and we’ve built a sophisticated, modern environment where you can escape the noise and immerse yourself in the "therapeutic embrace of clay."
What sets us apart?
Whether you’re a first-timer looking for a social Clay and Sip session or a seasoned artisan seeking to master Advanced Wheel Throwing, our expert instructors are here to lead you through the intricacies of the craft. Our state-of-the-art facilities cater to every stage of the ceramic lifecycle, offering professional kiln firing, glazing services, and even "At Home Clay Kits" for those who want to keep creating beyond our walls.
Our Offerings:
Social Workshops: Experience our popular Clay and Sip and Hand Building sessions—perfect for birthdays, corporate events, or a creative weekend escape.
Skill-Based Training: From Beginner Wheel Throwing to specialized project workshops like Make Your Own Brekky Set, we help you build genuine technical skills.
Studio Memberships: For those ready to make pottery a lifestyle, our memberships offer exclusive weekly or monthly access to our tools and equipment—think of it as a "gym membership, but better."
At The Art Department, we don’t just teach you how to make objects; we provide the space and expertise for you to make a work of art. Join us at the wheel and find your sanctuary.
